Last days in Paris

Since my first experience abroad as a student when I was 20, I never stopped moving in and out which can be pretty exhausting when you have a shopping addiction. Tones of accumulated «stuff» that I had to carry around with me every time I’d change place and I should thank my parents for their extreme generosity and patience during those times! After I graduated last August, I felt confused and unsure about the future but one thing I knew is that I wanted to travel more, «see the world». While a friend of mine was experiencing the high competition of bagpackers in Australia, I chose a spanish-speaking country to improve the language. Turns out France only has one working-holidays program agreement and that is with Argentina. It didn’t take long to make up my mind and tell my parents about my new idea. Oops! Sorry, it’s gonna another year of exploration. With half of my friends currently unemployed, I felt it was a good plan considering the circumstances. Of course I’m gonna miss my friends and family, as always, but sometimes it’s worth the pain. During my last days in Paris the weather was divine and as the sun was warming us up, Julia and I decided to go to the Père Lachaise graveyards. We both acknowledged that we’ve actually never been there! Better late than never right? I’m wearing a coat from Surface to Air, an off-white pearl sweater from And Other Stories, a 100% Vintage Levi’s boyfriend jeans (similar here) I had to patch up because it’s falling appart, striped socks from Monki and of course my favorite pair of sneakers at the moment (idea I stole from Lorna), the all-white Adidas Superstar, so comfortable I want them in every colors!

Thank you Julia for the beautiful pictures.

Feeling blue

Lorna-TheWorldofBergere-18

What I like about the tungsten white balance is that it emphasizes the feeling of coldness almost icy and it doesn’t matter if the sun is not shinning because it’s winter… I know I’ve been absent for a while and it feels good to be back. I’m going through the inevitable quarter life crisis symptom. I know ridiculous right? Anyway, after two years in the French capital, I’m finally moving again to explore some more wildness before settling down!

But before I develop that subject, I’d like to introduce you to Lorna. We met while briefly working together and I really wanted to take her shot because I liked her personal style. We didn’t really have time to get to know each other but she made me want a pair of superstar (I thought I would never follow the pack). Inked from head to toes, she got the attention of photographers with her pin-up/vintage style when she was still a teenager. It allowed her to make a professional portfolio and eased her way to a model agency. Today she’s still posing part-time alongside with her freelance hairdressing job and a personal blog.

Make a statement

IMG_0580 IMG_0594 IMG_0598 IMG_0605 IMG_0606IMG_0587IMG_0590 IMG_0608 IMG_0612 IMG_0613

This is my first winter street style and I have to say that it is much harder for me to dress when it’s cold. I absolutely hate layers and other turtle neck, makes me feel completely trapped, I can’t breathe with that thing! Anyway as you can see I am not wearing much and my ankle are even sockless, not very cosy when it’s cold especially now in Paris but it is not my fault if fashion has suddenly decided that pants should be shorter! I bought this cool jean overall at Monki together with the black & white crop sweater that actually brought me much comments from people: YES/NO you know… big hesitation! But I decided that this year must be the one of ACTION! No hesitation anymore, just do it, make a statement! So I am wearing that big gold chain necklace bought at Asos I absolutely fall in love with because it is the perfect size! “Statement necklace”. The fake sheep lookking coat is from H&M and again, big crush. I visited all H&M in Paris to find the right size with the right color. Freak? When I want something… I get it right! Just like this cute bag of the French brand My Suelly. A girl was selling it on a fair for a very interesting price. But I had no money whatsoever at that time. But didn’t want to give away that opportunity so I asked her number and as soon as I got the money, called her back and it was MINE! Determination! #fashionfreak. Finally the New Balance sneakers I found in Maastricht last week, there were on Sale and well I don’t have a pair so I needed one right? Plus the brand has a “endorsed by no one” policy, they want their shoes to be recognized for their quality and not by this special someone wearing it.  Good point. We did this photo shoot with Marion, we had much fun as always with her. I missed those good times… even though it was raining like hell! Looking forward SPRING again!

Manon

DSC_0193 DSC_0196DSC_0197 DSC_0192 DSC_0191 DSC_0188

This is Manon. I love that name, it is full of meaning for us coming from the South. “Manon des Sources”, famous French movie of the late 80’s and novel from Marcel Pagnol, among other things! But for me it is essentially “Manon” the song of Serge Gainsbourg which, I agree, is one dark and creepy melody but still one of my favorites. It is funny because there is a little sum up on Wikipedia about the name Manon and now I just found out that it is a creamy Belgian pastry, a mineral water, a wine rosé, a kind of potatoes, and a song of Christophe Maé: THAT should remain secret! Anyway, I met this girl this year, in Paris and she is the kind of person you wish to meet when you just moved in a new city and started a new job. First of all, she has southern blood so she completely understands the concept of “apéro” and a single zip of  rosé would instantly make her smile and talk looooud like she was back home. She is my opposite in terms of personality (maybe because I am still a child and she has found a more mature way to deal with situations) but we share the same curiosity for art and culture in general which has been rare for me to find lately. She is a bit uncomfortable with me taking her picture (I think she hated me that day) but I wouldn’t imagine my blog without her presence! She is one of the person that made this project alive and I thank her for that. She is wearing a tropical top from Monki, jacket from April, May, white sneakers with platform from No Name (yes that brand still exists!) and her brand new awesome bag from Yvonne Yvonne. Jewels – bracelets GAS, Baan, Chanael K, and rings 5 octobre.

Crazy prints

We are back in the streets with my favorite models, Marion and Mathilde. They looked so good with their printed tops that I couldn’t resist taking some pictures! One more time, Marion has surpassed herself with this perfect Nail Art matching her top AND her bag both from American Retro. She is wearing another creation of hers, the bird necklace and cute little black and white derby from Jonak. On the other hand, Mathilde is wearing a top from Top Shop and necklace from H&M. She was on her way to Solidays right before we took that shot! One particular things about the girls’ hands is that Mathilde is wearing her newly engagement/wedding rings! Yes this talented young beauty is just married and I wish her the very best. Congrats!

—————-

Perfect gift-wrapped

DSC_0330 DSC_0233DSC_0236 DSC_0234 DSC_0241 DSC_0244

When it was time to buy a gift for a very special friend of mine, I couldn’t help but rush to my favorite shop at the moment: & Other Stories. I knew I could find this little something very special and I did, instantly. My satisfaction reached its top when I saw how perfectly my gift was wrapped! I mean it was just very neat, minimalist, simple but aesthetic. Ok now you must think I am completely nuts! But you get my point right? Why the other pictures? Well basically it is related since I am wearing a top from Monki, a skirt from H&M and brand new nude sandals from… & Other Stories (ok it’s an obsession!)
